Is there a rental agency I can go to in Minneapolis to assist me with finding an apartment?
I've checked out sites such as rent.com and craigslist.org but I just want someone to do my dirty work for me. I have no time!

Get a realtor, many assist w/rentals as well as home buying. Similar to home buying you tell them what you want, don't want, area your prefer, etc...

About How safe is the Lake Street/Midtown area in Minneapolis

How safe is the Lake Street/Midtown area in Minneapolis?
My wife and I are looking at an apartment at 30th and Park. The school she teaches at is right near the Midtown Exchange. She wants to walk to work. I'm not concerned about demographics, or urbaness, or weird behavior at night. All I want to know is if we are putting our lives at risk. We are both 23yrs old and white, if that matters.

Hennepin used to be the rough street in Minneapolis...but now Lake Street is pretty disgusting. If I were to move to downtown (which I live in a St. Paul suburb) I would only consider the Uptown area. Safety will cost you a bit more.

About What do you think of the Minneapolis Condo Market

What do you think of the Minneapolis Condo Market?
I'm a young professional working in downtown minneapolis. I currently live in the suburbs and would like to relocate close to the downtown area and either rent or buy a condo. Rent for a nice place would probably run upwards of $1000 to $1200 for a 1BR...likewise if I bought a condo in the area I could get one cheap enough to have my mortgage be $1200. I only plan to live in a condo for maybe 3 years then try to sell it or rent it out and recoup my mortgage payments. Anyone have any comments or forecasts with regards to the downtown minneapolis condo market? Is three years too short of a time frame?

Yes, three years is too short of a time frame if you plan on selling. As you mentioned, renting the condo when you move elsewhere is a great idea. It is a nice diversification of your personal investment portfolio. Even with the real estate meltdown over the last four years, real estate investments have outperformed all other investment since the year 2000. Mike Weiland - Keller Williams Realty.

About Where can I take an auto Transmission course near Minneapolis MN

Where can I take an auto Transmission course near Minneapolis MN?
Where I lived in WI, the tech college would allow you to take just the class and not be enrolled for the entire automotive tech program. I want to learn how to work on transmissions really well, only know the basics. Any other ideas or tips are welcome.

About Is there a business in Minneapolis that will hire a mentally ill person (no skills but good worker)

Is there a business in Minneapolis that will hire a mentally ill person (no skills but good worker)?
My son is mentally ill, 31 years old, and is looking for part-time work. He functions well with medication, but does seem a bit odd due to his illness. He had a job as a busboy for a local restaurant, but the business closed after he was there just one week. Any help for resources in the Minneapolis area would be much appreciated! Thank you!!

Contact Easter Seals they have an employement program and they may be able to assist you with finding a program that would be able to help if they can't.

If you son has a serious mental illness (Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar) he is likely eligible for numerous services including assistance with employment. It would be beneficial for you to look at services available from your local mental health centers as these entities specialize in working with people on many life domains- not just medication management or therapy. A quick search on the internet lead me to the following in your area; Tasks Unlimited, Inc (http://www.tasksunlimited.org), Rise, Inc (http://www.rise.org) and Goodwill Industries. I suggest you and your son begin making phone calls and investigating what services are available nearby. Navigating "the system" can be difficult but obtaining the right services can be life changing.
