About What do you think of the Minneapolis Condo Market

What do you think of the Minneapolis Condo Market?
I'm a young professional working in downtown minneapolis. I currently live in the suburbs and would like to relocate close to the downtown area and either rent or buy a condo. Rent for a nice place would probably run upwards of $1000 to $1200 for a 1BR...likewise if I bought a condo in the area I could get one cheap enough to have my mortgage be $1200. I only plan to live in a condo for maybe 3 years then try to sell it or rent it out and recoup my mortgage payments. Anyone have any comments or forecasts with regards to the downtown minneapolis condo market? Is three years too short of a time frame?

Yes, three years is too short of a time frame if you plan on selling. As you mentioned, renting the condo when you move elsewhere is a great idea. It is a nice diversification of your personal investment portfolio. Even with the real estate meltdown over the last four years, real estate investments have outperformed all other investment since the year 2000. Mike Weiland - Keller Williams Realty.

About Where can I take an auto Transmission course near Minneapolis MN

Where can I take an auto Transmission course near Minneapolis MN?
Where I lived in WI, the tech college would allow you to take just the class and not be enrolled for the entire automotive tech program. I want to learn how to work on transmissions really well, only know the basics. Any other ideas or tips are welcome.

About Is there a business in Minneapolis that will hire a mentally ill person (no skills but good worker)

Is there a business in Minneapolis that will hire a mentally ill person (no skills but good worker)?
My son is mentally ill, 31 years old, and is looking for part-time work. He functions well with medication, but does seem a bit odd due to his illness. He had a job as a busboy for a local restaurant, but the business closed after he was there just one week. Any help for resources in the Minneapolis area would be much appreciated! Thank you!!

Contact Easter Seals they have an employement program and they may be able to assist you with finding a program that would be able to help if they can't.
2 :
If you son has a serious mental illness (Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar) he is likely eligible for numerous services including assistance with employment. It would be beneficial for you to look at services available from your local mental health centers as these entities specialize in working with people on many life domains- not just medication management or therapy. A quick search on the internet lead me to the following in your area; Tasks Unlimited, Inc (http://www.tasksunlimited.org), Rise, Inc (http://www.rise.org) and Goodwill Industries. I suggest you and your son begin making phone calls and investigating what services are available nearby. Navigating "the system" can be difficult but obtaining the right services can be life changing.

Looking for a male Golden / German Shepherd mix puppy. Know any breeders in Minneapolis or chicago or between?
I live in Chicago right now, but will be moving into a new house with my fiance in Minneapolis in Mid-November. I will be working from home, and now would be the perfect time for us to get a puppy. We are looking for a Golden Retriever / German Shepherd mix. Does anyone know where I can find one between Chicago and Minneapolis?

Check Petfinder or your local shelter. Good breeders do not breed mixes.
2 :
Good breeders will not purposefully breed mixes. A good place to start is on Petfinder or by dropping by local shelters.
3 :
most people don't advertise mutt breeding, unless they're a poodle mis meant to by hypo-allergenic. and that's a very specific combo, good luck with that
4 :
ew breeders...petfinder or a shelter.
5 :
Hello, You may try to find a dog near you in this site: http://dogtime.com/finder/edit Just select your preferences and enter your zipcode and it will help you find the dog you want. Congrats in advance
6 :
Good breeders don't breed mutts. Try you local rescue or animal shelter. Or you could also try Petfinder.com they'll have puppies that are from your area. Don't support BYB and puppy mills by buying your dog from one of these "mixed breeders"
7 :
You don't get a mix from a breeder you get a mix from a rescue or shelter. Don't spend big bucks for mutts. Breeders should only be breeding purebreds
8 :
Breeders do not breed mixed breeds. Because they're unpredictible. But your could adopt one from a shelter. About Has anyone been to Yellowstone N.P. during the winter

Has anyone been to Yellowstone N.P. during the winter?
I am trying to decide what I want to do during spring break: go to Yellowstone for a class that is being offered through my college ($250 for everything for one week) OR stay in Minneapolis and work and make lots of money (I am graduating in May and need money for moving, apartments, etc)? Is it worth going to Yellowstone during the winter...would I be missing out if I decided to stay here and work?? Any thoughts/opinions would be helpful! :)

What other types of companies can an college graduate in interior design work for?
My girlfriend is a recent college graduate in interior design. She moved to minneapolis and has tried a lot of architecture firms to see who is hiring but to no avail. She is very upset that she cant find a job in her major because of the lack of hosuing and commecial starts in the current economy. What other companies could she work for with that major or other jobs she should look for?

About How many years of work experience do you need before you can find a decent-paying job out-of-town

How many years of work experience do you need before you can find a decent-paying job out-of-town?
I really hate the city I live in, especially the people, and I cannot take it anymore. I wanted to relocate immediately after graduating from university, but no one wanted to hire someone fresh out of college with no relevant experience. I have traveled all around the country and narrowed my search down to a few select cities. Is it possible for someone with one year of relevant work experience -- plus a Bachelor's degree -- to land a job in Seattle, Sacramento, Minneapolis, Tampa, Charlotte, Nashville, Memphis, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Richmond or Baltimore? Or are employers looking for candidates with several years of experience? I like my current job, but I cannot tolerate this city/region; never have, never will. Please help me out... I have never relocated before and am desperate to be the next person to make his exodus from this sinking hellhole.

It really depends on what you do. For instance, if you were in the medical field, like nursing or occupational therapy, you shouldn't have a problem. The same would probably apply for a teaching degree. But if you were in certain business or financial fields, it may be more difficult for you.
2 :
That is a trick question. It depends on where you live. LA or NY $50K year you will starve. Seattle, Portland $50K you will live fine. $100K in Texas you will live like a king.

Where is the best place to tailgate Gopher football outside the Metrodome in Minneapolis?
Where is the best place to tailgate? I'm headed to the game on Saturday and for the first time I don't have to drive (finally moved to Minneapolis). It will be me and my friend--both 24, both like to have a good time and both looking to be feeling pretty good before kickoff. Where do the students go? Should I bring my own beer or how does this all work?

I'm looking for a neighborhood in Minneapolis with big craftsmen style homes with rich wood work, nice lot sizes, mature trees, parks, and great schools. Is there such a neighborhood in the Twin Cities metro area? Thank you!

I don't understand.

South Minneapolis would be a good place to start - both the Southwest and Longfellow areas. I think the homes/yards may be bigger in the Southwest neighborhoods - Linden Hills, Tangletown, Uptown area - I think along Minnehaha Parkway too. That area - Southwest Minneapolis - is definitely more "affluent". It sounds like that's where you'd want to be. You may, however, have an easier time finding properties for sale in the Longfellow neighborhood, but not nearly as affluent - again, along Minnehaha Parkway in Longfellow would be some of the bigger Craftsmen style homes. And, there are fewer of them (I think) over in Longfellow. Along with the "affluence" comes schools with more resources, more established/safer neighborhoods, etc: Southwest Minneapolis. I found this website that seems to not quite be working, but whoever runs it could probably give you some more info about what's available: http://www.housesofminneapolis.com/craftsman.

About Theodor Geisel: Where's the highest concentration of his original (non-ad) work open to the public year round

Theodor Geisel: Where's the highest concentration of his original (non-ad) work open to the public year round?
I'm trying to view Theodor Geisel's (Dr. Seuss) original art work (not his ad or war work). Where is there a good concentration of galleries that carry Dr. Seuss work? I stumbled on one in either Minneapolis or Seattle. It's been so long now I can't remember. I've seen the outdoor sculpture in Pennsylvania on line but that's not his work. I'd like to go where I can see in person a good quantity of his childrens' book art and secret works. If there's a museum showing it that would be ideal.
